ABOUT FUJAIRAH

Fujairah, traditionally inhabited by the Sharqiyin tribe, is strategically located at the mouth of the historic trade route, Wadi Ham, which connects the mountains to the interior and the Persian Gulf Coast. The route was historically protected by the Sharqiyin Fort at Bithnah, highlighting the emirate’s strategic importance.

Covering approximately 1,166 km² (450 sq mi), Fujairah accounts for about 1.5% of the UAE’s total area, making it the fifth-largest emirate. Despite its size, the population is relatively small, with around 225,360 residents (2016), only surpassing Umm al-Quwain in being the least populated emirate. Known for its scenic mountains, pristine beaches, and rich cultural heritage, Fujairah is a unique blend of history, natural beauty, and strategic significance within the UAE.
